How to get from Santiago to Sarria: all options

If you want to get from Santiago de Compostela to Sarria, you can go by taxi, bus, train or car.

Taxi

This is the fastest and most comfortable option, although it is also the most expensive. If you want to travel comfortably and without waiting, this is the best option for you. You will arrive at your destination in approximately 1 hour and 35 minutes. Bus

The cheapest option to get from Santiago de Compostela to Sarria is by bus. Here you have two options:

  1. Direct bus Santiago-Sarria: There is a direct bus line from the main bus station in Santiago. The bus leaves once a day, at 11:00, and arrives in Sarria in 2 hours and 6 minutes. The ticket price is 10,70 euros.
  2. Change in Lugo: Another option to get by bus from Santiago de Compostela to Sarria is to change in Lugo. Despite the inconvenience of having to change, this option has a similar cost and duration to the direct bus from Santiago to Sarria.
    • The main advantage is that it offers a much longer departure timetable, with the first departure at 7:00 and the last at 21:30, and a frequency of 1 hour and a half. The journey takes 1 hour and 50 minutes and the price is 9.20 euros.
    • From Lugo you can take another bus to Sarria, the first one leaves at 6:40 and the last one at 20:35, with a frequency of about 2 hours. The journey takes 40 minutes and the ticket price is 2.55 euros. You can also get to Sarria from Lugo by booking a taxi on our website.

Train

There is no direct train line between Santiago de Compostela and Sarria. The only option is to take a Renfe train to Ourense or Monforte de Lemos. In one of these two cities you will have to change to another train going to Sarria.

  1. Train to Ourense: There is a train approximately every hour, from 5:38 to 20:20. The journey takes 38 minutes and tickets cost between 8.50 and 23.30 euros. When you arrive in Ourense you will have to take another train to Sarria, 5 trains depart from 12:30 to 23:00. The journey takes 1 hour and 20 minutes and tickets cost between 5 and 20 euros.
  2. Train to Monforte de Lemos: There are 3 trains a day (8:34, 15:40 and 18:22). The journey takes 1 hour and 42 minutes and the price is around 20 euros. When you get to Monforte de Lemos you will have to take another train to Sarria, 6 trains depart from 7:11 to 23:42. The journey takes 30 minutes and tickets cost between 3.35 and 16 euros.

This option is not recommended as it takes the same or even longer than the bus and the prices are more expensive.

Car

If you arrive in Santiago in your own car or plan to rent one, you can also drive to Sarria. First take the AP-9 motorway until you reach the junction with the A-6, which leads to Lugo. When you reach the A-6, take exit 488, then continue until you reach Sarria.
